AnotherGuy's Weblog: My heater doesn’t work so well

You can ask your landlord, but she might not be able to do anything. Insulating is hard when you don't own the place. I could give you some tips to just get/stay warm without dealing with the insulation if you think that would help!

What tips do you have? ;)
At the very least maybe I can get the window edges sealed better.

A lot of what other people said. haha You could also put plastic on the outside of your windows, blankets at the cracks at the bottom of doors (you can get insulation stuff too and just staple it to the bottom of your door). Make sure you keep all the doors shut in the rooms you arent using at the moment. Also, if there is a legit draft your landlord should do something about it. Should being the key word. Space heaters and heated blankets are great ideas!

On of my roommates has a saying also "save energy, invest in quilts" or something along those lines. haha

    Good luck!

Thanks. I seriously like the idea of plastic on the windows. I think that's something I'll need to try.

Quilts are nice. But get in the way. I sit in front of my computer working all day... need my hands. lol

Hey there, sorry to hear about your heater, that's no fun. All I can say is...electric blankets work wonders. Think warm thoughts!

OOh... I had forgotten about those. May need to invest.
    Thanks!

those little pocket heaters. dude. i once had to sit outside all night long with no heat in the dead of winter - i'm telling you, buy them up in the biggest packs you can. might want to invest in some blankets.

line the cracks of your windows and doors with blankets or towels - that should help keep some of the heat in.

In addition, might want to invest in a space heater. :-p

that's all the tips i had. Good luck!

lol. that's cool. I had never even heard of those before. They won't blow up on me, will they?

I noticed that my doors have big gaps that lead straight out into the hallway. I'm thinking that getting the sealing fixed on the windows and maybe adding some of those rubber seals for doors would be good.

Space heaters, of course! I was planning on getting some of those too. I have one at my parents house. :P

I added in the carpet today for the place, and it has already started warming up quite a bit. I think that this will help a LOT.

yeah! I was thinking of saying that, but I didn't! haha Rugs are key! Glad to hear things are heating up!
